These three Fulton sisters were born in Liberty, Sullivan County, New York. They are direct descendants of James Fulton, who was born in Dalkeith, Scotland on 7 August 1739.

After migrating to America, James Fulton established one of the earliest settlements in Bethel, Sullivan County, New York, USA in 1804, called, quite appropriately, the ‘Fulton Settlement’.

After a long and fruitful life, James died in the Fulton Settlement, on 23 November 1824, and is buried on the land he owned, in what is now known as the Fulton (or ‘Fulton Fraser’) Cemetery.

We hope you enjoy this information about our Fulton heritage, as well as some interesting general insights gleaned from our own Fulton genealogical quest, including the origins of the Fulton surname itself.
